College Health Insurance

Many higher education institutions in the United States provide health insurance for their students.  Although a deeper look into these policies often reveals a limited amount of coverage.  Students looking for a broader coverage may want to take a look at the insurance market.

Attending college is a great lifestyle enhancer but the environment students are placed in often leads to health risks.  The phrase, “You can run but you can’t hide” fits well with the health environment.  With overcrowded classrooms and condensed populations, germs, illness and disease are free to spread quickly.   General health practices are great ways to limit exposure but students are sure to run into some form of health risk.

Furthermore, most students attending college are young adults and this particular age group has higher chance of accident related emergency room visits.  Depending on your schools policy, emergency room visits may not be covered.  Without insurance coverage, hospital bills can become a financial burden fast!  It’s safe to say that one night in a hospital bed is going to cost you thousands without coverage.

With private health insurance, students can expand their coverage to what the deem necessary.  Allowing them to visit their doctor of choice instead of limiting themselves to the schools health facilities.  With this ability, students are able to work around their busy schedules.

Students interested in traveling should seriously consider some form of additional insurance if they have not already.  Studying aboard does provide young adults with the ability to see the world and all it’s wonders but safety needs to be a main concern.  Without the proper coverage, traveling students may find themselves unable to afford necessary health services.

“Know Before You Go”

If you or someone you know is traveling to Mexico in the near future, make sure they”know before they go”.  ”Know before you go” is a pamphlet that the United States has released to warn travelers about the dangers they may face.  It also provides travelers with information that can help prevent any misunderstanding between the laws of Mexico and the laws of the United States.

Be sure to read up and prepare yourself before your departure!  If you feel you need more coverage then preparing yourself, take out a travel insurance plan!

Going on spring break? Don’t forget your coverage!

Plan ahead for your spring break and protect yourself with travel insurance!

If you are lucky enough to be traveling during spring break it is important you stay safe.  Be sure to always keep your health and safety in mind while going through the airport or checking in bags.  Check the weather to prepare for the correct conditions you will be facing.  Once you’ve arrived at your destination continue to look out for situations that may become dangerous for you or your company.  If you are traveling out of the country understand that you must abide by the laws of the country you are visiting.  Be extra careful if you have plans to travel to Mexico because the United States has issued a travel warning due to violence related to drug cartels throughout the country.

Travel insurance can provide travelers with a great umbrella of protection from anything from medical care to cancellation coverage.  If you are unfamiliar with canceling travel plans, you often can’t do it.  Most packages and plans are nonrefundable to insure that businesses do not lose money due to changes in travel plans.  With travel insurance, you are essentially buying a guarantee that you will get what you paid for or receive a refund.

If all goes well and you do make it on your trip, you can rest easy knowing that in the event of an accident, all medical expenses up to $1 million will be covered.   Maybe the accident doesn’t involve injury to you but you are found liable, you’re covered for that too! Our plan will provide you with $200,000 in liability coverage.  Don’t worry, if you leave the United States, the same coverage applies! Not to mention, if something does come up and you need to leave immediately, you will be covered up to $100,000 for emergency medical evacuation.

Be safe and have a good time!

Studying abroad safely

As many students make the decision to travel abroad for international education they need to keep an eye out. It has become known that traveling abroad isn’t as safe as most people assume it to be.

Jenee Klotz, a young female who just recently returned from her time abroad fell victim to a violent crime overseas. Jenne’s mother, Kathy Lunardini, told USA Today this about the matter. “These people were supposed to care for my daughter. We were shocked and dumbfounded to find out that study-abroad programs are unregulated.”

Whether you are a student or a concerned parent, it is vital you take extra steps to ensure a safe experience. No one wants to fall victim to criminal acts but unfortunately that is the world we are living in today. A great option is to purchase travelers insurance so you know you will get the coverage you need, when you need it!

Cheaper flights!

Hey grads!
I just found out that I might be able to save on flights from now on.  I was listening to the radio on the way home last night and I found out that U.S. travel sites are dropping their fees!’

I did a little research of my own and found out that there are actually four companies doing this.  Orbitz Worldwide, Travelocity, Expedia Inc., and Priceline. Well, if you ask me, this is all good news but if they want our business lets me them work for it!  Make sure you compare the sites so you get yourself a cheap ticket!
