What's Covered By The GradGuard Student Health Plan?

Here is a summary of the medical benefits offered through the Student Health Plan, written on a group policy with College Parents of America.  For more information on the details of this policy, please review the plan brochure.

Insurance Benefits

  • Benefit Maximum - $500,000 per condition*
  • Deductible Options - $250, $500, $1,000, $2500 per Policy Year
  • Prescription Expense Benefit - 50% of URC charges up to $750 Maximum per Policy Year.
  • Office Visit Expense Benefit - 80% of URC, $75 Maximum per Day.
  • Hospital Room & Board Expense Benefit - 80% of Semi-Private Room Rate
  • Intensive Care Expense Benefit - Subject to Deductible and Coinsurance.
  • Inpatient Surgery Expense Benefit - 80% of URC.
  • Outpatient Surgery Expense Benefit - 80% of URC.
  • Lab & X-Ray Expense Benefit - 80% of URC up to $1,000 Maximum per Policy Year.
  • Substance Abuse & Mental/Nervous Disorder Expense Benefit - 75% of URC for the 1st 40 days of treatment, then 60% of URC thereafter, up to $80,000 maximum per condition.
  • Pregnancy - Covered as any other sickness.
  • Dental Care Expense Benefit - 80% URC (covers injury to natural teeth only).
  • Emergency Room Expense Benefit - 80% of URC.
  • State mandated benefits

Non-Medical Student Health Insurance Benefits

Travel Assistance Services

The Travel Assist Plan is designed to provide students who travel 100 miles or more from their home (or in a foreign country that is not the country of permanent residence), with worldwide, 24-hour, emergency assistance services during the term of coverage under the student accident and sickness plan.  The assistance services are provided by On Call International (OCI).*

Additional benefits included with membership in College Parents of America:

Tuition Insurance

  • $5,000 annual beneft / $2,500 semester benefit
  • 100% of covered fees due to Medical "disability" withdrawal
  • 100% of covered fees due to the Death of a "tuition payer"
  • 100% of covered fees due to the Death of a student
  • 75% of covered fees due to Medical "disability" withdrawal due to emotional, nervous or mental disorders
  • 0% of covered fees due to Voluntary Withdrawal

The coverage provided as part of membership in College Parents of America is triggered when a covered member suffers a loss as a result of medical withdrawal, including loss of life as a result thereof, that causes the member to withdraw from the accredited educational institution they are attending. The loss is calculated as the non-refunded eligible tuition, academic fees and room and board that are not refunded to the enrolled member.

Identity Theft Protection & Resolution Services

College Parents of America Identity Theft Protection & Resolution Services provides Identity Fraud Support, Card and Document Registration and Lost/Stolen Credit Card Assistance. College Parents of America designed this service to address a large concern of parents – the safety and protection of their students' financial identity.
