Health Insurance is changing.

Young adults are typically healthy, but life is unpredictable, and accidents do happen. If you suffer an unexpected injury or illness, you’ll want to be prepared. There are many different types of health plans available to students and young adults. Common plans include student health plans, family plans, individual plans or Short-Term Medical.

Finding the right plan for your needs and budget can be daunting. Research different plans online and speak to an agent to find the plan that’s right for you.

Things to consider

Under new healthcare legislation, young adults can remain on their parents plans until the age of 26. Be sure to check with your parents to see if they have a health plan you can join.

Some colleges and universities mandate that students purchase health insurance. Oftentimes these schools offer a health insurance option for students.

When browsing various health insurance options, here are some things to pay attention to:

  • Deductible options
  • Premiums
  • The providers available under the policy possible restrictions
  • What is covered
  • What is not covered
  • Possible fees
  • Available supplemental policies

What are some of my options?

At GradGuard™, we strive to help students and young adults protect themselves, and that includes their health.
